Dear Longmate Family,
I was one of those kids who enjoyed the zip line your Father built. He was a visionary! When I saw and read your Father's obituary, I was reminded of the significant impact your Mother Ruth and Father John had on this young kid growing up next to Anderson Hill. Your parents always welcomed me and many other kids to their home and property. They created a setting of endless outdoor fun around marathon softball and basketball games, dangerous skateboarding and go-carts, bicycling, and diverting creeks that Department of Ecology would now rule punishable. And in the winter, we sledded on your steep lawns and went inside to a rec room with ping pong and other games. We also built friendships together in scouting, backpacking, and other sporting activities. As time passed we all went our separate ways, but the constant theme was your parents unconditional generosity and kindness that I will always remember and be grateful for. Long before the phrase, "It Takes a Village..." became familiar your parents embraced this and we're all the better for it. As you reflect on your Father's passing I'm certain you will hold memories of him close to your hearts. His was a life well lived and it genuinely extended to others like myself in a positive way. I hope you all are doing well and all the best to you during the Holidays and upcoming 2017. With heartfelt regards, Lynn Stokesbary
