Welcome to the memorial page for

Margaret Rose (Hill) Holbrook

April 19, 1939 ~ July 2, 2015 (age 76) 76 Years Old

Margaret (Maggie) Rose [Hill] Holbrook was born April 19, 1939 in Inglewood, CA to the proud parent Dallas Hill and Rena [Des Champ] Hill.

At the age of two she and older sister Betty were partners in all adventures and mischief they could find. In 1942 the family moved back to Oaktown, Indiana, and where her brother Phil was born. Maggie and Phil like to fight with each other, which caused the girls to call him the brat.

They lived on farm land that grew watermelons in Indiana. It didn’t take them long to figure out how much tastier they were when you ate them in the field, with the juice running down her face and arms.

Maggie’s dad worked in construction so they moved again in 1946. They lived on yet another farm with a big hay loft. All three children climbed into the hay loft, but they couldn’t get Phil down, so the girls put hay bales below him and pushed him down.

In 1949 they moved to Kentucky where Maggie finished High School in 1957, after graduation, she met and married Bill Davis. They had three children Mickey, Joe, and Dallas.

In 1962, they moved to Port Angeles, WA and later divorced in 1964

In 1968 Maggie and her three children met Gary Holbrook. Gary and Maggie married December 1969 in Moscow, Idaho at Gary’s Aunts home.

Together they had Jason Holbrook in 1971. Over the years Maggie remained a stay-at-home mom to care for their 4 children.

Maggie and Betty remained very close even though Betty lived in Kentucky. Betty tells us that Maggie always wanted to be an artist. Maggie’s number one love was always her family, but also sewing, making quilts, crafting, camping, antique shopping, playing cards, but most of all life!

Maggie also loved a good loud thunderstorm. She collected carousel horses and kitchen gadgets, and lots of other good stuff!

Maggie is survived by her husband of 47 years Gary L. Holbrook, son Joe Davis and wife Vickie, son Jason Holbrook and wife Nell, daughter Mickey (Davis) Kaufmann and husband Tom, Daughter Dallas (Davis) Haffey and husband Shaun, 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and extended family.

A celebration of life was held in her honor remembering how much she gave to all. Her dearest family was there to show the love they all have for her and celebrate the life she lived.

She will be laid to rest at the Mount Angeles Memorial Park Military Circle, where her husband Gary will join her at a later date.
