Ardith Estes Obituary

Ardith Louise (Brown) Estes

Ardith Louise (Brown) Estes, age 85, of Sequim, Washington, went
home peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on October 18, 2025,
three days after her husband, John Clinton Estes, passed away.
Ardith was born on January 12, 1940, in Hot Springs, South Dakota, to
Howard Edison Brown and Velma Lucille (Shroll) Brown. She was the
beloved sister of Robert Allen Brown (1935–2024).

Ardith spent her childhood in Washington, where her kindness,
creativity, and joyful spirit began to shine early. In 1956, she was chosen
as Princess for Riverside Park and proudly rode in the local parade in
Burien. She graduated from Highline High School in 1958, where she
was admired for her friendly nature and caring heart.
After graduation, Ardith followed her lifelong dream of helping others by
attending nursing school at Tacoma General, where she graduated in
1961, while expecting her first child. Helping others became both her
profession and her life’s focus. She had a brief career as a nurse, but
spent her entire life nurturing, loving, and tending selflessly to the needs
of all those in her life.

On November 13, 1959, Ardith married John Clinton Estes in Burien,
Washington. Together, Ardith and John shared nearly 66 years of
marriage, marked by deep devotion, laughter, and a steadfast
partnership in both work and faith.

They began their journey as a family in Edmonds, Washington, where
they had four daughters: Laurie, Susan, Sandi, and Carol. The family
later lived on Whidbey Island, Washington, for three decades before
John and Ardith retired to Sequim. Their homes were always filled with
love, home-cooked meals, large family gatherings, and laughter. Ardith
was an avid gardener, cook, and artist accomplished in ceramics,
painting, cake decorating, and sewing. She loved her Collie dogs and
was a faithful supporter of her children and grandchildren’s many
interests and activities.

Ardith loved to travel with John and also took many vacations with her
extended family. She was a cancer survivor who beat cancer with grace,
determination, and a steadfast faith. She loved the Seahawks and the
Mariners, a passion she shared with John. Ardith had a gift of hospitality
and created events and memories that her family will always treasure.
Ardith had a servant’s heart. Whether caring for patients, neighbors, or
her growing family, she poured out love through simple acts of kindness.
She was a faithful member of her church and found strength and joy in
reading her Bible, serving as a Sunday School teacher, serving on
mission trips, being a Deaconess, and singing in the church choir.

She delighted in her role as a mother, grandmother, and great-
grandmother, leaving a legacy of faith, support, love, warmth, and
encouragement.

Ardith is survived by her daughters Laurie Estes (Cathy), Susan Coffee
(Burl), and Sandi Hill (Steve); eight grandchildren; and 11 great-
grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother
Robert Brown, husband, John Estes, and daughter Carol Ann Estes
Thacker (1970-2020).

There will be no formal funeral service at this time. A graveside
gathering will take place at the Cashmere Cemetery, Cashmere,
Washington, at a later date.
The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to the caregivers and
staff of Sherwood Assisted Living for their compassion and care.
Ardith’s family rejoices that she is now reunited with her loved ones and
in the presence of her Savior, Jesus Christ.
“Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.”
