Charles (Charlie) Skinner passed away suddenly but peacefully on November 16th, 2022. A true raconteur, Charles was born in Dundee in 1941 and after earning a degree in electrical engineering from Dundee Institute of Technology, he left Scotland to work overseas and to begin a career that enabled him to see the world. He lived and worked in some fascinating countries during the most interesting times, before finally settling in Sequim, Washington. Charles’ varied career took him all over the world, his many achievements included opening Shanghai Hilton and the Conrad hotel in Bangkok. He gained a reputation for tireless work and approaching any problem with enthusiasm and wit. Charles was also an avid golfer, a passion he pursued from childhood. He had a gift for making friends, his stories of his life were a treat, delivered with excellent comic timing, usually accompanied by a pint of Guinness.
Reflecting his travels, Charles is survived by family all over the world; his brother Hugh in England, his sister Wilma in Canada, daughters Karen and Jacqui, grandchildren Jamie, Lisa, and Chloe in Scotland, and his sons Alexander and Duncan in the US. Charles was also blessed to be with his loving partner, Sylvia, at the time of his passing. Charles was cremated in accordance with his wishes and a celebration of life will be held 1 pm, on January 14th, 2023 at Sequim Community Church, for those that wish to attend.
