Clinton Arnold Cummins

Clinton Arnold Cummins, 77, passed away suddenly the morning of August 28, 2024, at his home in Sequim.

Clint was born September 29, 1946, in Oklahoma City, OK to Mary Jayne (nee Ash) and Melvin Boyd Cummins, a US Navy officer. The family lived in various places due to his father's military career. Clint grew up in cities across the mainland from the East coast to the West, as well as in Hawaii, and in Okinawa, his spiritual home. His father's last post was in Lemoore, CA and that state became Clint's home until his move to Sequim in 2011.

Clint graduated from California State University, Fresno in 1968 with a degree in Fine Arts/Industrial Technology and Arts, while also earning his teaching credential. His career included stints as a teacher, a social worker, a Social Security Administration claims supervisor. In his early 40s, Clint attended San Joaquin College of Law, graduating with his Juris Doctorate in 1990 and passing the State Bar the same year. He worked as a defense lawyer for the State Compensation Fund of California until his retirement in 2011.

Clint loved cars, especially sports cars, and was a member of the Porsche Club and the BMW Club of America. His artist's soul survived with visits to art galleries and museums wherever he traveled, as well as in his 50 year study and practice of the cultivation of bonsai.

Clint believed that he was on this earth to acquire information and devoted his time to constant reading and studying by the light of the television tuned to the history channels. He was also inordinately fond of cats, who reciprocated by doting on his presence as he was intellectually engaged.

Clint leaves behind his wife of 33 years, Pamela Bills of Sequim, to treasure his memory; a son, Brian Sturgeon of Fresno; a brother, Eric Cummins of Olympia; and a maternal aunt, Dorothy Toper of Michigan.

A gathering to celebrate this extraordinary man is planned for later.
