Cynthia Allen Obituary

Cynthia (Cindy) Ann Allen
December 8,1945 – December 22,2024

Cindy was born in Littleton, New Hampshire in 1945. She died at home on December 22,2024. Earlier in her life she graduated with honors from the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs with a degree in Geology and Environmental Sciences. After graduation, she worked as the head Acquisitions Librarian for the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs until her retirement 32 years later.
In 1974 she married the love of her life Tom Allen, in Crested Butte, Colorado. They built their own home and resided in Palmer Lake, CO. Always active in the community, Cindy served as mayor pro tem of Palmer Lake for 14 years. She and Tom enjoyed trail building, hiking, bicycle and motorcycle riding, and volunteering with Best Friends animal rescue in their leisure time.
She and Tom retired and moved to Sequim in 2014, settling into the Dungeness Meadows community. Cindy continued her community involvement by serving on the HOA board for Dungeness Meadows. Among her many projects, she improved and maintained the community’s free lending library. Cindy, with her lifelong compassion for animals, volunteered at the Welfare of Animals Guild (WAG). She and Tom adopted their dog Buddy from the guild. She and Tom celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on November 16th and Cindy turned 79 in December before she died.
A vibrant, caring, intelligent, active woman, Cindy loved the color purple, reading, knitting, traveling, gardening, motorcycle riding and community involvement. She is survived by her husband Tom Allen and son Benjamin Allen. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
A memorial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers please send donations to WAG
