Dennis Frank Thompson of Sequim, Washington, passed away January 27, 2026, with his family at his side at St. Michael’s Medical Center in Silverdale, Washington. He was 85.
Dennis was born August 2, 1940, in Los Angeles, California, to Donald and Emma (Whitaker) Thompson.
He spent most of his working years with GTE of California, after a four-year stint in the U.S. Navy serving in the East Pacific. He moved around various positions within GTE throughout Southern California, retiring in 1992. He was well respected by all who worked with him as a reliable, highly qualified technician and leader.
Following his retirement, he and his wife JoAnn relocated to Sequim, Washington, after finding it on a list of the top 10 best places to retire and checking it out while visiting JoAnn’s sister, Bernice Kromka, who was living in Silverdale, WA at the time.
Dennis’ wife JoAnn preceded him in death, yet he leaves many family behind. His legacy lives on through his daughter Donna Thompson-Porrazzo, son in-law Robert Porrazzo Jr; granddaughter Jaycee Thompson-Porrazzo, her spouse Joseph Larson (USAF) and grandson Anthony Thompson-Porrazzo.
No memorial service is planned since Dennis would want people to save their money and to spend it on a nice dinner – he loved a good Chile Relleno or Enchiladas with a good beer or margarita, so enjoy a good meal with loved ones and raise a toast to Dennis!
Dennis’ urn will be placed alongside his wife, JoAnn at Tahoma National Cemetery at a later date. May they rest in peace with our Lord and Savior.
