Dewey Crocker, age 88, of Brinnon, Washington passed after a brief illness on October 2, 2025. He was born in Pineland, Texas on May 13, 1937, to Dewey and Virginia (Slocum) Crocker. Dewey was a beloved brother to his sister Alice Jean Crocker Johnson of Warsaw, Indiana.
Dewey joined the United States Army at the age of 17. After an air jump injury, he became a medic at a field hospital in Germany. After a three-year tour he was honorably discharged. Six- and one-half months later he joined the United States Air Force where he became a flight engineer. Technical Sargeant Crocker earned three Purple Hearts, The Good Conduct Medal, The Distinguished Flying Cross, and The Tenth Oak Leaf Cluster among many awards and commendations.
Before retiring from the Air Force after 17 years, Dewey trained as a sea captain. He worked as an owner/operator of five cod fishing boats out of Tacoma, Washington for twenty years. Dewey enjoyed ham radio operation, electronic and mechanical fabrication and auto/motorcycle mechanics. He was also an avid prepper.
Dewey is survived by his brother Jim Bob Crocker of Thornton, Colorado and his grandchildren Dylan H. Earnest of Charleston, West Virginia and Samantha M. Earnest of Lewis Center, Ohio. Dewey's beloved sister Alice survived him by six hours. Dewey's passing was preceded by both parents and his three children, Douglas E. Crocker, Janet M. (Crocker) Earnest and Pamela S. (Crocker) Gust.
Dewey will be interned at Mount Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Washington with assistance from Linde Price Funeral Service, Sequim, Washington.
Services will be held at Tahoma National Cemetery Monday, October 27, 2025 at 2pm.
