Dolores Marie Rossi

Dolores (Dee) Marie (Urso) Rossi… Mama Rossi was simply one-of-a-kind.  Arrived October 17, 1935 and departed August 18, 2015 (79).

Dee was born in Chicago to Nicholas and Catherine, the second youngest of five, with two sisters, and two brothers.  She is survived by her older sisters Sally and Mary Ann and younger brother Nick, preceded in death by her parents and older brother Jack.

Dee married Tom Rossi right after high school in 1953 and they had five sons:  Tom, Nick, Vince, Reno and Chris. Her sons were the light of her life and she was the best Mom ever...as most friends of her boys would attest to.  She shared many great memories with the boy's wives who also brought eight wonderful grandchildren and seven great grandchildren into her life.

She worked in banking for over 25 years holding many positions.  She was a compassionate manager and loved by her people.

Her passion was making others happy, especially with her gift of cooking.  She was a natural chef that could conjure wonderful meals when the fridge and pantry offered only slim pickings.

Mom was a classic movie buff. She new all the stars so no one ever had to wonder who was playing who.  She loved her Westerns and also her "Stories"..the soaps.  She was a great person to talk to no matter what the subject....Mom had a huge heart, a ready ear and was always willing to help.

I'm Free

Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free;

I took His hand when I heard Him call;

I turned my back and left it all.

If my parting has left a void;

then fill it with remembered joy.

My life’s been full, I savored much;

good friends, good times,

a loved one’s touch.

A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss;

ah yes, these things, I too, will miss.

Perhaps my time seemed all too brief;

don’t lengthen it now with undue grief.

God wanted me now, He set me free.
