Joan LaRue Gloor
August 20th, 1935, to August 14th,2024
Joan LaRue Gloor of Port Angeles WA was born in Los Angeles, CA to Vincent Cooper Peet and Elizabeth Anita (Dahlfues) Peet.
Joan married Roland Otto Gloor on March 20th, 1954, in Canoga Park, CA. The family moved to the PNW in 1967 and shortly after to the Olympic Peninsula due to a job transfer and to be with other family members. Sadly, Roland passed in a tragic boating accident on November 11, 1972.
In 1982 Joan became a Licensed Massage Therapist after attending training. Later, Joan continued her education and received her Associates of Applied Science in Physical Therapy and worked as a PT assistant at Olympic Medical Center and other locations.
Joan was a long-time member of IBC in Port Angeles. She also enjoyed music and all types of dancing, including Square Dancing, Clogging, and Ballroom dancing. A lifelong learner, her many interests included swimming, sail boarding, horseback riding, hiking, gardening, beekeeping, sewing, art, travels, genealogy, and learning Japanese. She was a member of the Elks Club, Dry Creek Grange, Black Diamond Grange, Mounted Search and Rescue, Master Gardeners, various book clubs, square dancing and clogging groups. She even traveled to New Zealand with her dancing group. She also traveled to Germany with a group of art students from college.
Joan is survived by her children Stewart Wayne Gloor of Port Angeles, WA, Linda Marie Bettger (Brian) of Mt Vernon, WA, Jeannette LaRue Riley (Bill) of Port Angeles, WA, Stephen Roland Gloor of Port Angeles, WA, and Rosemary Elizabeth Wasden of Port Angeles, WA, her brother Jim Peet, sister Judith Hanson (Chris) and 13 grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren, and 1 great- great-grandchild.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband Roland, parents Vincent and Elizabeth, and her twin brother Jack.
