After a long and satisfying life, July Mariam (Cromer) Mitchell passed away of natural causes after
reaching 95 years of age at the home of her step-son Lynn (Kathy) Hanvey in Sequim, Washington on the
evening of Tuesday, May 16, 2023. July was born in Caruthersville, Missouri to Lyman and Josephine
Cromer (deceased) on March 14, 1928. She was the fourth of their six children. All of which are now
deceased except for Victor (Joyce) who resides in Lee’s Summit , Missouri. July went to elementary and
high school in Catheruthersville and then attended Southeast Missouri State College in Cape Girardeau,
Missouri. In December of 1948, she married Eldon R. Mitchell (deceased) and had five children all of
whom survive her: Bruce (Jan), Mike (Gail), Kevin, Doak (Brenda) And Sharon Feiser (David). She is also
survived by six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
In 1988 Eldon and July moved to Sequim, Washington as a retirement home. After his death, July
eventually met Maurice Hanvey (deceased) in Sequim and after several years of courtship, they married
and lived at Diamond Point outside of Sequim and then subsequently in Sequim as his health
deteriorated.
July enjoyed gardening throughout her life and loved to travel. She was able to visit many locations in
Europe as well as locations in the Pacific Ocean including New Zealand and Australia. She particularly
enjoyed wintering in Mexico with Maurice. She was also active in the Red Hat Society in Sequim.
Interment is undetermined at this time but will be in the Midwest among family with a life celebration
occurring later.
