Margarethe Ursula Purviance

Margarethe Ursula Purviance of Port Angeles moved to Heaven on March 16, 2023 after a
battle with cancer. She was 76 years old.

She was born Ursula Margarethe in Mellrichstadt, Bavaria, Germany on July 14, 1946 to Walter and Katherina
Herrmann and moved with her family to the Stuttgart area when she was 13 years old. She
met Boone E. Cameron while he was serving in the army and married him in Germany in 1965
and then moved to Sequim later that year. They had three children together and Margarethe was Boone’s secretary for Boone’s Excavating, Inc. That marriage ended after 16 years. She married Duane Purviance in 1995 of Port Townsend and they lived in Port Angeles.                                                                                                                                                              

She came to know and follow Jesus as her personal Lord and Savior about 40 years ago and she
reflected his gentleness, love, servant heart and loyalty for her family and friends.
Her favorite things to enjoy was working in her yard developing a beautiful mature landscape
filled with floral joy where she had lived the last 45 years. She also loved travel and had a few
trips with other family members to Germany to visit relatives and Italy, as well as trips around
Washington and Oregon to spend time with family. Leavenworth was her favorite local
destination. Her family and friends were very important and a priority to her. She has 3 children,
14 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. On her husband’s side another 12 grandchildren
and numerous great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her older brother, Alfred Herrmann of Port Angeles, her parents
of Germany and her step children Kristie (Purviance) Sprigg, Terri (Purviance) Martin and James
Purviance. She is survived by her husband, Duane Purviance of Port Angeles. Her children:
daughter, Katherine (and Jerry) Drovdahl of Portugal, her sons Michael (and Barbara) Cameron
and D. Brian (and Misty) Cameron both of Port Angeles, her stepson Craig (and Doreen)
Purviance of Alaska and Stepson-in-law Scott Martin of Port Townsend. She is also survived by
her younger siblings: her sister, Angelika Johannes and brothers Andreas Herrmann, Bertram
Herrmann and Michael Herrmann all of Germany.

We greatly miss her but are thankful for her peaceful move into eternity. There will be a
service for her at Eastern Hills Community Church, Saturday April 15th at 1pm.
