Rita 'JoAnn' Elaine Thompson

It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of the passing of Rita 'JoAnn' Elaine Thompson. Rita peacefully departed on June 10, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was 80 years old. JoAnn was born August 18, 1943, to Frank E. Simono and Angelina J. Gagnon in Brockton, MA. JoAnn married Dennis Frank Thompson on August 22, 1969 in Los Angeles, California. They both moved to the Olympic Peninsula in 1993 to enjoy their retirement. JoAnn was a member of the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and St. Luke’s Episcopal. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Her memory will live on in the stories shared, the lessons taught, and the love that continues to flow through the lives she touched. JoAnn was a generous and caring person, she tried to make sure those who were important to her knew just that. She was a fierce protector and kind. She loved animals and spending time in the sun. JoAnn was a devout member to her churches and her Lord, and she was a devoted member of her Cursillo group. JoAnn is survived by her husband, Dennis Frank Thompson, her daughters Donna Thompson-Porrazzo (Robert Porrazzo), Kelly (Scott) Tamberg, son Mark Tereau and her sister Bernice Kromka. JoAnn is preceded in death by her parents Frank and Angelina Simono, and her brothers Chuck and Jim Simono. No services have been announced at this time.
