Roderic “Rod” Lee, 70, passed away August 16, 2024, in Seattle, Washington.
On May 23, 1954, Rod was born to Richard and Roberta Lee in Bethesda, Maryland. He moved to El Paso, Texas where he grew up and attended Eastwood High School and then University of Texas at El Paso. There he met his wife of 51 years Georgia Goodall Lee who he married on December 4, 1973 in El Paso, Texas. Rod enlisted into the United State Navy. He and Georgia spent 52 amazing years traveling the world, scuba diving, Heli hiking, camping, hiking, walking, adventuring, exploring, building a beautiful full life. They lived in El Paso, TX, San Diego, CA, Alameda, CA, Sardegna, Italy, Idaho Falls, ID, Peoria and Glendale, AZ. They settled into retirement on Cozy Lane, in Sequim, WA in 2012.
It was his greatest honor to be the best husband, father, Papa, and friend to his loving family and friends. Rod was a devoted family man and enjoyed spending time with family. He never met a stranger. He had an infectious laugh and a personality bigger than his home state of Texas. He also enjoyed camping, sitting by the fire with mom, yardwork, volunteering with Veterans organizations, watching football, especially the Dallas Cowboys, sitting in the gazebo enjoying a beer after a long day working in the yard with mom.
Those left to cherish memories of Rod are his wife; daughter, Shaunna Bisesto and her husband William and The Bisesto Kids; granddaughter, Tishae Rice and her husband Brandon Gonzalez; great-grandchildren, Grace and Grant; and sister, Robette Lee. He also left behind a large network of Veteran friends and fellow Retirees from the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station in Arizona.
Rod is preceded in death by his mother, Roberta, his father, Richard, his father -in-law, George Goodall, mother-in-law, Margaret Goodall; brother, Randy Lee, and many other special friends.
Rod will be dearly missed by family and friends. His family was his pride and joy and his greatest role in his life was being Papa, Hot Rod, UG, BooBoo, Uncle Grumpy, Big Papa, Daddy, Roddy to his friends and family. He showed unconditional love to his family and always made sure to say I love you. He was a person you always could count on and he didn't hesitate to help anyone in need. He never quit; he may have struggled but he never quit.
Rod’s Celebration of Life to include military honors will be on October 12, 2024 beginning at 10:00 a.m. The Celebration will be hosted at the Sequim Elks Lodge #2642, 143 Port Williams Road, Sequim, Washington 98382.
