Thomas Roland Christensen, 80 years old, was a kind and gentle man who died peacefully at his home in Sequim, WA on August 25, 2020, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Idaho Falls, ID to parents Roland and Minnie Christensen, who preceded him in death, and raised him with the love of Christ. With his love for poetry and literature, he determined to get a teaching degree at ISU. A quiet hero, he passed on his passion for the arts to his family and high school students in Pocatello, ID and Carson City, NV.
He moved to South Lake Tahoe, CA, where he met his present wife Jean of 45 years, combining their five children from previous marriages. His home was always filled with music and the smell of gourmet dishes he creatively prepared. He enjoyed many beloved times with family on the beach, hiking, or traveling together.
He relocated to southern New Jersey, working his way up in the insurance field, eventually becoming an adjuster. He moved back to California where he could be closer to his aging parents. Throughout this time he became quite committed to helping in his church greeting, teaching Sunday school, leading prayer ministries, and developing close relationships with many dear friends in small Bible study groups.
His final 15 years were spent in Sequim, WA where he was very involved with his church, Kings Way. He enjoyed the role of grandpa, and spending time with his family. Quite often he could be found raiding the cookies, no matter how good the hiding place, gaining the nickname “Cookie Monster”.
His siblings and their spouses are Janice and Pete Strickland, Ruth & Larry (who preceded him in death) Ridgeway, Joyce and Larry Cornie (who preceded him in death), Kathy and Dave Corn, and Mark and Sarah Christensen. His children and their spouses are: El Moreaux, Connie & Rich Peacock, Ron Talbot, Jo Talbot & Chris Klotz, and Michele Talbot. He has 9 grandchildren: Merritt and Lily Christensen, Shelby Bandula, Alex and Samantha Talbot, Arley and Elena Peacock, Grace Fahey, and Lily Talbot.
