Tyson Dougherty: A Life Full of Waves, Laughs, and Mischief
Tyson Dougherty, who was as much at home in the ocean as he was on land, set sail on his final adventure on June 22nd, 2024, at the age of 44. Born on August 25th, 1979, Tyson was a man of many talents, opinions, and pranks, and he will be sorely missed by his wife, Kristin, and their two children, Maverick and Makenzie.
Tyson was a man of sharp intellect and a sharp tongue, known for his big smile and bigger personality. Friends and family could always count on him to be loyal, especially to those he loved, even if he was stubborn and opinionated. His mischievous spirit often got him into trouble, like the time he hid the nativity scene’s baby Jesus at his mother-in-law’s house until Christmas morning… And he successfully did it year after year.
Hawaii was Tyson's heaven on earth, where he spent his happiest days snorkeling, paddling, and soaking up the sun. It was there that he truly lived life to the fullest. He loved nothing more than sharing these passions with his family and creating unforgettable memories—like the swimming pool antics at his wedding or running for the ferry after a Pepper concert with an unforgettable (and disgusting) combination of hot dog and cream cheese in hand.
Tyson's wit and clever comebacks were legendary. He had a knack for making people laugh, even when they weren't sure if he was joking. On his first date with Kristin, Tyson offered to throw her across the room to retrieve a pillow and drag her back by her ankles. That set the tone for their adventurous and laughter-filled life together.
He was proud of his move to Hawaii, where he got to live out his dreams by the ocean. Despite his playful and sometimes exasperating ways, Tyson was a rock for Kristin, always keeping her grounded and putting his family first. He was one of the few people who could keep her in check, and for that, she adored him.
Tyson is survived by his father Howard, stepmom Sharon, sister Devennie, his beloved Kristin, and their two children, Maverick and Makenzie. His legacy of love, laughter, and loyalty also lives on through his many nieces and nephews.
To honor Tyson's vibrant life, a service will be held at the Moose Lodge on Sunday, June 30th, at 1 pm. Come ready to share stories, laughs, and perhaps a few mischievous tales of your own.
Tyson Dougherty—a man who cared deeply, loved fiercely, and lived life with a splash. May he rest in peace, catching waves in the great beyond.
