Virginia May Collins

May 7, 1930 ~ November 6, 2019 (age 89)

Virginia May Collins passed away surrounded by her family in Sequim on November 6, 2019 due to cancer. She was 89.

Virginia was born on May 7, 1930 in Kansas City, Missouri to Earnest and Esther(Drake) Williams. The family moved to Oregon during the Great Depression. She was the second of four children, along with Louise, Maurice and Doris.

Virginia was married to Dale Collins on September 24, 1949. Dale passed away in 1978. Their children were the light of their lives.

Virginia had a bubbly personality and was full of life. She was always laughing and always had an interesting story to tell. She loved spending time with family and friends and everyone was impressed by her generosity, lively spirit and quick wit. She was very much a people person and had many friends over the years.

Virginia loved decorating and established a lovely home for her husband and five sons. She took great pride and interest in its furnishings and care. She carved time out of her busy life for craft classes to further enhance her home.

For most of Virginia's life, she worked outside the home as a rate clerk for two major trucking firms. Although her work was fast paced, she had the mind and intellect for it. She retired at age 70 and bought a home on the coast in Garibaldi, Oregon. She loved the Oregon Coast and was very happy there.

She was preceded in death by her husband Dale, sons Dale Collins Jr., Larry Collins, David Collins, her sister Louise Birkenfeld and brother Maurice Williams.

Virginia is survived by her sons, Richard (Deanne) Collins and his children, Michael Collins and Lori Collins-Philips, and son Douglas(Tracy) Collins and his children, Stuart Collins and Dana Collins-Wheeler; Dale Jr's daughters Audra Jones, Teresa Reinmann and Tanya Collins; her sister, Doris Fales; and seven great grandchildren.

Her niece, Carey Birkenfeld was especially fond of her and they enjoyed each others company in the last year of Virginia's life. Her friends, Kathy, Louise, Wendy and Elaine were very dear and supportive in her last years. They had many laughs and fun times together.

We will all miss the lively, generous, indomitable spirit that was Virginia.

There will be Celebration of Life for Virginia at Olympic View Church of God, 503 N Brown Road, at 2 pm on Saturday November 23, 2019. A reception will follow at the home of her son, Rick.
